After seven seasons with the Kansas City Royals, in which he helped the team win a World Series in 2015, highly coveted MLB free agent Eric Hosmer has decided to take his talents elsewhere.
According to many MLB sources, pending a physical examination, Eric Hosmer has agreed to an eight year deal with the San Diego Padres, which could be worth $144 million if he decides to play the entire eight years of the contract agreement with San Diego. Reportedly, Hosmer can opt out of the eight year contract with the Padres after five years.
Since entering professional baseball in 2011, the 28 year old Hosmer has been one of the best first baseman in all of baseball. On top of winning four Gold Gloves at first base, which is awarded to the best defensive player at each position, he has posted impressive career hitting numbers as well with a career batting average of .284 to go along with 127 home runs and 566 RBIs.
