Last night, February 24, 2018, Falcon’s owner Arthur Blank was inducted into the Georgia Sport’s Hall of Fame. Purchasing the Falcons in 2002, Blank has helped lead a mediocre franchise that had only been to one Super Bowl soar to new heights, putting the franchise on the map as a force to be reckoned with.
Blank, who also owns Atlanta United, has been known to make extremely wise decisions when hiring staff, including hiring Thomas Dimitroff to help make some crucial draft decisions. Because of this, players such as Michael Vick, Matt Ryan, Roddy White, and Julio Jones, some of the best players in the franchise’s history, were all drafted to join the Atlanta Falcon’s family.
Under Blank’s leadership, the Falcons have risen up to prove themselves of honorable recognition from football spectators around the nation. Over Blank’s career as owner, the Falcons have been to the playoffs eight times (the most times ever as owner), three NFC championships, and one Super Bowl.
The legacy that Blank’s success has imprinted on the franchise will forever be remembered. What is more incredible is Blank’s humility. In his HOF speech, he points out, “I really don’t consider myself to be the owner of the Falcons of Atlanta United. I consider myself to be a steward.” With that being said, this job has become something special to Blank and because of his humble leadership, he is more than deserving of being inducted into Georgia’s Sports Hall of Fame. This should definitely kindle hope within the hearts of every Falcons fan for the upcoming 2018 season.
