Everyone loves a Cinderella story, right? That is what No. 16 seed University of Maryland Baltimore County had the potential of doing in NCAA basketball tournament. After beating Virginia, a No. 1 seed, which is the first time a No. 16 seed beat a No. 1 seed team in NCAA history, many were routing for the UMBC Retrievers to continue their Cinderella run. All those hopes were diminished when Kansas State beat UMBC, causing many to now hate Kansas State. So many tweeted about their sudden loathing for Kansas State and the hopes of them getting demolished by Kentucky. However, despite losing to Kansas State, no one can take away the fact that UMBC beat Virginia, exciting many around the nation and making a historic moment in the NCAA tournament.
