McDonald’s adds fresh beef to Quarter Pounder

For those who just cant resist the taste of fast food, McDonald’s announced last week that Quarter Pounders at every store in the US (minus Hawaii and Alaska) will from now on only be made with fresh beef without added preservatives starting this coming May. This fresh beef will be a replacement to all of the Crafted Recipe burgers as well.  Unfortunately, this will not apply to Big Macs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers.

The new change was implemented not too long after the decision was made to no longer offer cheeseburgers in happy meals.  Of course, cheeseburgers can still be ordered with the meal if requested by a parent.

“The switch to fresh beef quarter-pound burgers is the most significant change to our system and restaurant operations since All Day Breakfast [in 2015],” said McDonald’s USA President Chris Kempczinski.

It’s safe to say the switch quickly came after Wendy’s targeted McDonald’s in ad’s accusing them of not selling fresh food to customers.  With that being said, McDonald’s not wanting to take any chances, has made steps forward to change the current perceptions of their consumers surrounding the type of food they sell.
