Recently, Richard Sherman, cornerback known for his ‘Immaculate Deflection’ in the NFC Championship against the San Francisco 49ers in 2014, has signed to play for the 49ers. After being with the Seattle Seahawks for seven years, helping lead one of the best defenses in modern NFL history, Sherman was traded for three years as a 49er with a deal worth 39 million dollars with a 5 million dollar signing bonus. Sherman, who was drafted in 2011, has left quite an impact on the Seahawks, helping lead the team to two Super Bowls and winning one in 2014. His career stats with the Seahawks include 367 tackles, 99 pass deflections, and 32 interceptions in 105 regular season games. He has also attained four Pro Bowl invitations and three First All-Team Pro nominations. After his Achilles surgery, there are some who may doubt if he will have the same impact with the 49ers that he had with the Seahawks. However, John Lynch, former NFL player and current 49ers general manager, and the rest of San Francisco’s squad believe it to be a risk worth taking by gaining Sherman. With his stats and reputation, it most definitely seems like a gain for the 49ers to add him onto the team.
